
The V URBAN REGENERATION FORUM – BIA 2022 has launched the IV PHOTO-BIA contest entitled:
Invisible cities:
Inhabit – Habitat – Inhabitant
The aim is for citizens of any age to take photos to capture how they see their surroundings as an inhabitant of a territory, a city, or a rural or urban environment. That city as a living space in sight and made up of human beings.
The city as the sum of the lives of its inhabitants, as the sum of personal invisible cities.
Scope of the contest: Bilbao/Bizkaia
Contestants:
Anybody wishing to use this medium to express their vision of the subject of the contest may enter.
Neither the organiser’s employees nor of its marketing and/or promotion suppliers may take part in this contest or win a prize.
There is only one entry category.
Presentation
- The photographs, which must be originals, shall be submitted digitally with a quality of 300 dip (pixels per inch) in black or white, or in colour. The printing of the photos shortlisted for the exhibition shall be on photo paper on 5-mm thick mounting board, not framed, and measuring 50 x 70 cm (mount and photo)
- The maximum size of the photo shall be (8268 X 5906) pixels.
- Each contestant may enter one photograph or a set of two if they are interrelated. Both photos will be judged together.
- The author must keep a copy of the photos on digital medium with a definition that guarantees a comparable quality to the physical format, in order to make their public dissemination easier for the organiser if they are winning photos.
The email must contain the following information:
- Tagline
- Personal details of the contestant (name, surname(s), ID, address, email address and telephone).
- Photo location(s).
Deadline
The deadline for entering the works is 13.00 hours on 12 January 2022.
Entry method
The works shall be sent to the following email address: fotobia@biarchitecture.org. The date of sending the email shall be the one that the organisation registers.
Prizes*
The prizes will be as follows:
- Prize to the best set of two photographs: €600
- Prize to the best photograph: €350 + architecture books.
- Public’s Choice special prize: €250
*If the winner is a minor, the Prize will not be in cash, but its equivalent value in a voucher to buy stationery or books.
Public’s choice special prize
All the entered photographs will be exhibited on the biarchitecture.org from 20 January 2023. The public can vote electronically from that website until 12 February 2023.
Jury
The jury will be made up of three members, photographers and/or architects who are professional photographs. The Jury may not decide not to award the prizes, unless there are no entries, and may likewise name up to two runners-up. The decision of the Jury shall be final. Under no circumstances may a single contestant be awarded two prizes, even though their work may be highlighted with a mention.
The jury shall shortlist the 20 best photos that will be exhibited at the BIA SPACE at the Delegation in Bizkaia of the Basque-Navarre Institute of Architects, at Alameda Mazarredo 69, Bilbao.
Prize-giving
The prize-giving will take place in March 2023.
Submitted works
The authors of the prize-winning photographs and those selected for the exhibition surrender to the Delegation in Bizkaia of COAVN the powers of use, dissemination, distribution, public communication, exhibition and reproduction for cultural or promotional purposes, without limit of time and territory, and without manipulating or altering the photographs. Manipulating or altering shall not be taken to be the modifications that must be carried out to adapt the photographs to printed or digital publications, including the social media, of the Delegation of Bizkaia of COAVN; the Delegation is empowered to perform those modifications when necessary or recommended for the medium, nature or aesthetics of the publication in which the photographs are to be included. The Delegation may include the photographs in, but not limited to, the following: exhibitions, website and publications of the BIA. In any event the name and surname(s) of the author shall be clearly indicated.
Consequently, the prize-winning and finalist photographs may appear on any type of digital or print edited medium, linked to the organisation and the dissemination of its activities, and always citing the author of the work. The author may use the entered works for other situations or purposes provided that they expressly state that the work has participated in the Photo-Bia contest of the Delegation in Bizkaia of COAVN.
Comments
The authors are responsible for the authorship and originality of the entered works, guaranteeing that there are no third-party rights on them, and shall be liable for any claim brought regarding image rights. The authors undertake to hold the Delegation in Bizkaia harmless.
The fact of entering implies the full acceptance of these terms and conditions. The Delegation in Bizkaia of the Basque-Navarre Institute of Architects shall rule on all aspects not envisaged in these terms and conditions.
