
The V URBAN REGENERATION FORUM – BIA 2022 has launched the II BIA STORIES contest entitled:
Invisible Cities:
Inhabit – Habitat – Inhabitant
Bia-Stories. The deadline for submitting the stories has been extended until 12 January.
The aim is for citizens of any age to capture with their micro-stories their interpretation of their surroundings as an inhabitant of a territory, a city, or a rural or urban environment. That city as a living space in sight and made up of human beings.
The city as the sum of the lives of its inhabitants, as the sum of personal invisible cities.
Scope of the contest: Bilbao/Bizkaia
Contestants:
Anybody wishing to use this medium to express their vision of the subject of the contest may enter.
Neither the organiser’s employees nor of its marketing and/or promotion suppliers may take part in this contest or win a prize.
Categories:
There are three categories:
- 12 to 18 years old
- 19 to 65 years old
- Over 65 years old
Presentation
The text must be original and entered on digital medium.
- Each contest may only enter one text.
- The entered stories will be available to read on the website.
- The texts will be no longer than 300 words.
The email, as well as the text, must contain the following information:
- Tagline
- Personal details of the contestant (name, surname(s), ID, address, email address and telephone).
- Category being entered.
Deadline
The deadline for entering the works is 13.00 hours on 12 January 2022.
Entry method
The works shall be sent by email to biastories@biarchitecture.org, indicating as the Subject: BIA STORIES and TAGLINE of each contestant. The date of sending the email shall be the one that the organisation registers.
Prizes*
- 3 first prizes to the best micro-story, one per category: €600
- 3 second prizes to the best micro-story, one per category: €350
- 1 Public’s Choice special prize to the best micro-story overall: €250
*If the winner is a minor, the Prize will not be in cash, but its equivalent value in a voucher to buy stationery or books.
Public’s choice special prize
All the entered texts will be exhibited on the biarchitecture.org from 20 January 2023. The public can vote electronically from that website until 12 February 2023.
Jury
The Jury will be made up of three members, authors, booksellers or educationalists for the world of literature of recognised prestige. The Jury may not decide not to award the prizes, unless there are no entries, and may likewise name up to two runners-up.
The decision of the Jury shall be final. Under no circumstances may a single contestant be awarded two prizes, even though their work may be highlighted with a mention.
The entries will be exhibited in the BIA SPACE at the Delegation in Bizkaia of the Basque-Navarre Institute of Architects, Alameda Mazarredo 69, Bilbao.
Prize-giving
The prize-giving will take place in March 2023.
Submitted works
All the micro-stories entered shall remain the property of the Delegation in Bizkaia of the Basque-Navarre Institute of Architects, which may publish or reproduce, distribute, transform them or use them for any public communication act, with no limitation of time or place. The authors therefore surrender to the Delegation in Bizkaia of COAVN all the exploitation rights of the micro-stories entered in the contest.
Comments
The authors are responsible for the authorship and originality of the entered works, guaranteeing that there are no third-party rights on them, and shall be liable for any claim brought regarding image rights. The authors undertake to hold the Delegation in Bizkaia harmless. The fact of entering implies the full acceptance of these terms and conditions.
The Delegation in Bizkaia of the Basque-Navarre Institute of Architects shall rule on all aspects not envisaged in these terms and conditions.
