Workshop Elkar-terri
Apart from visiting several sites in the supramunicipal district to learn out its mining extraction and industrialisation, a sesión on ”Urban Rights” with sudents from Balmaseda High School ran alongside the workshop. Thanks to this sesión, the architecture students weren able to continue working on their urban generation projects after learning about the real demands of the region’s Young people.

The proposals also considered this suburban territory, where the limits between the rural and the urban merge. A place where architecture will recover its mediation role between nature and society. A resilient territory to the climate crisis, where its social justice and quality of life will turn it into a hospitable place for women, people with functional diversity, children and older persons.

Prizes
The COAVN Delegation in Bizkaia awarded to Juan Sola and Nerea Bilbatua, students of the Mention in Urban Project Management of the ETSAUN (School of Architecture of the University of Navarra), with the V edition of the biennial Urban Regeneration Forum of the BIA 2022 ELKARterri Workshop first prize.
Two accésits were also awarded to the works of the students María Inés Sandoval, Hyowon Choi, Joshua Ngee Hong Lim, and the students Manuela Trompiz, Lina María Bernal Ovalle and Emanuele Stancanelli.
