BIA to fill Bilbao in september with many different cultural activities for everyone with architecture at the centrepiece

Between 4 and 28 September, exhibitions, films, contests, children’s workshops and guided tours will be organised as part of the first BIA Urban Regeneration Forum, the platform dedicated to revitalising architecture and urban development in Bizkaia.   The cultural programme gets underway on Thursday 4 with the opening of the first of the three planned exhibitions, which features the work of Imanol Ordorika Bengoechea, the architect from Lekeitio who fled to Mexico after the Spanish Civil War. The former La Naja station, open to the public from the 15th thanks to a transient refurbishment, will be the venue for technical workshops and the exhibition of the finalist projects of the International Young Architects Contest. It will also be the starting point of the guided tours of the city. The offices of the Bizkaia Delegation of the Basque-Navarra Institute of Architects will host the Ordorika exhibition, a film season and children’s workshops. Starting on 8 September, Metro Bilbao will feature the architecture of Bizkaia at several of its underground stations.   Bilbao, 28 August 2014.- The BIA (Bilbao Bizkaia Architecture) platform, dedicated to revitalizing architecture and urban development in Bizkaia, will fill September with numerous different cultural activities for everyone with the aim of bringing architecture to the general public.These activities are part of the first BIA Urban Regeneration Forum, which will be held in the capital of Bizkaia from 4 and 28 September.This event will gather together over 300 architects, urban planners and engineers and its special guest will be Norman Foster, who will be awarded the BIA Award in recognition for his work.
